Dramatically Different with Clinque

Approaching a beauty counter in a department store can be a seriously daunting walk. The fear that those perfectly made up ladies will look down their noses at you, your bank account is going to take such a bashing after you have agreed to buy everything that is recommended to you, you will be living off beans on toast for the next 2 weeks, but its ok because your face will look fabulous! Then what if you don’t even like anything that is recommended to you? I rarely go to a beauty of make up counter in a department store mainly for these reasons, I m guilty of buy what I have seen hype about.

I was invited by Clinque to their branch at House Of Fraser as a blogger to be one of the first to try their new Dramatically different Hydrating Jelly Moisturiser. I felt really nervous, I was going to do that walk up to the counter and  had my credit card at the ready just incase I was pushed into buying the whole new product range. My experience with Clinque could have not been any different, dramatically different in fact.

Helen and Alex were the two Clinque consultants and could have not been more welcoming. I was shown the new moisturising and then had a skin diagnostic done. This involved me answering a range of questions about my skin from how much sleep I have, my main skin concerns and even what type of environments I work and live in. The diagnostic system then recommend my perfect 3 step (cleanse, tone and moisturise).

However, the main reason for me being at this product launch was to be introduced to the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly. It is a new fresh take on the original Dramatically Different Moisturiser, apart fro this one is for all skin types, is it a super hydrating jelly with pollution protection, no parabens. no phthalates, no fragrance, just happy skin! The consistency is a gel, a small blob will easily cover your face and neck, apply twice a day, or when needed. The jelly at first will feel slightly sticky, give it 60 seconds, it’ll disappear and leave you the perfect base for your make up or a fresh make up free day.

Ok, so sounds great right? But how much? I was sooo surprised at the price, barring in mind this is a brand new innovative product. The Hydrating Jelly is £31 for 125ml, thats the large bottle. that is the same price as all Clinque’s other Dramatically Different Moisturisers and I can see 125ml lasting a while as your really don’t need to use that much!

I came away with a my eyes more open to the world of buying skincare and make up from a counter. Clinque would rather you have a good sample go at your recommended product, love it and go back to buy it than buying the full sized product, hating it and never going back to try another. Don’t be scare to ask for a sample first!

Another service that clique will offer you is the ‘Hands-on how-to.’ where you can choose from having 5 mins, 10 mins or 15 mins spare to be shown a range of ways to pick yourself up or how to use/apply a certain product so you can the best from it. these sessions are completely free, just walk up to that counter, say hi! and ask.

So there you have it, a completely different take to selling and recommending skincare from Clinque with a brand new moisturiser that will change up your skincare to the next level! Go see the lovely Alex and Helen in House of Fraser, Exeter (say I sent you like some MI5 mission, but they will truly look after you, I promise) or any other clique counter and ask to try this new moisturiser, you’ll be back to buy it, I swear! xx

It sounds like the consultants were really friendly and helpful which I think it really important as like you say it can be daunting going up to a beauty counter, especially when all the staff are so well made up! The hydrating jelly sounds like a nice product and I think my skin would really benefit from it right now! Glad you enjoyed your experience!

I don’t wear make up or just any moisturisers but think I should. Perhaps I should go and see these lovely ladies.
